Reflections of Ireland in aid of Cork Penny Dinners.
The concert, titled ‘Reflections of Ireland’ is in aid of the very special charity, Cork Penny Dinners to support their important work helping the homeless. This concert marks the beginning of the CYO ‘Reflections of Ireland’ Concert Tour to Italy. It will feature ‘The Brendan Voyage’ by Shaun Davey, with soloist Shane Keating, on Uilleann Pipes. The orchestra will also perform Leroy Anderson’s ‘Irish Suite’, ‘Aisling’ by Dr Declan Townsend and ‘Finnegan’s Wake’ by A.J. Potter. The orchestra will also play one of their favourite pieces, ‘Danzon No.2’ by Arturo Marquez.
The ‘Reflections of Ireland’ Concert Tour to Italy under conductor Tomás McCarthy, will then depart from Cork to Italy to represent Ireland at the International Festival of Youth Orchestras / Festival Orchestre Giovanili, a festival dedicated to youth orchestras held annually in the Tuscany and Umbria regions of Italy.
CYO will perform open air concerts in Montecatini, Volterra and Florence, on July 4th, 6th and 8th.
This tour is made possible thanks to the generous support of the Orchestra/Concert/ Italy 2023 tour sponsors:
Harris Group, O’Leary Life, The Pavilion, O’Flynn Group, PepsiCo.
City Hall Cork is one of Ireland’s premier orchestral performance venues and this concert promises to be another really memorable experience for our orchestra members. It will be a fabulous celebration of the hard work and dedication of our members who have been rehearsing since January in preparation for this concert and the concert tour to Italy.
