Hard though it is to believe, JCYO is 21 years in existence this Spring. Terry McCarthy has been at the helm since the orchestra's very first rehearsal back in 1991 and continues to conduct with the same degree of enthusiasm and attention to detail as ever. The orchestra started out with a membership of just 18 players. Today that number has grown to 71. JCYO's most recent performance was in the National Concert Hall, Dublin, when they brought to a close the wonderful evening of music presented by the Irish Association of Youth Orchestras (IAYO). Be sure to join JCYO, Douglas Céilí Band and Scoil Barra Choir this Sunday. See you in Coláiste Choilm!

Happy Christmas to everyone involved with the CYO, it has been a fantastic year for the organisation, with 2012 promising to be even better. Padraig Hoare writes about our concerts with Colm Wilkinson. These concerts will be remembered by the orchestra for many years. George Hook went down a storm on stage, but it was backstage that he made the most impact, he gave his time freely to the players for photos, autographs (never thought we'd see rugby balls in City Hall on CYO concert night).
However the biggest memory for most will be the time, consideration, and encouragement that Colm Wilkinson gave to the Orchestra during rehearsals. Followed by the fantastic experience that this group had of performing two sold-out concerts with this Legend of the theatre world. Well over 2,000 people came along to watch a connection being made by this group of players under our conductor Tomás McCarthy, and Colm Wilkinson. Here's hoping that this isn't the end, you'd never know!
The 10th and 11th of December 2011 will be remembered by 125 players who had the fantastic experience of performing with the Westend and Broadway Legend Mr Colm Wilkinson. The concerts were compered by the inimitable Mr George Hook. Over 2,000 people attended the shows and experienced this fantastic performer supported by a great orchestra.
