We are so proud of the Junior Cork Youth Orchestra who performed so beautifully in the National Concert Hall on Saturday 11th February, as part of the Irish Association of Youth Orchestraâs Festival. We are delighted to welcome former orchestra member, Cian Ducrot to perform with the CYO this Christmas. This is a unique chance to see Cian perform a full set of his songs with Irelandâs largest orchestra. Cianâs songs have been orchestrated by Paul Frost, one of Irelandâs premier arranger/orchestrators. If you have been lucky enough to watch Cian live in concert, seeing Cian with an orchestra of 140 behind him would be amazing if not awesome. Check out Cian Ducrot at cianducrot.com

For CYO's first concert since December 2019, we are going to do something very special. We are going to be Bridging The Gap with our friends True Tides.
The amazing 2019 event was our last live concert and we are delighted to announce that True Tides are back with us for one concert only on Saturday, May 21st at 8pm. We know how much fun it was when True Tides played with us at our concert in December 2019 and we are sure we will all have the same fun this time! Some new songs and launching their new single. We are all really excited about being back in the City Hall which up to very recently was being used as a Vaccination centre. We didnât think that we would be in the City Hall before next Christmas.
We expect the tickets to go quickly as our wonderful supporters are already busy snapping them up. Thank you to all of our followers for sticking with us over the past two years. We have been working very hard in the background rehearsing for our first performance and hope you can all be with us for this very special event. We are looking forward to having the Performers Academy Choir back with us again for the concert. We only have four rehearsals left before the concert so it is closer than you think! Harris Group, Ireland's leading commercial vehicle distributor, is delighted to announce its continued partnership with Cork Youth Orchestra. In addition to financial support, Harris Group has also provided a number of Swiss Air Purifiers that allows the Orchestra to safely return to rehearsing and preparing for upcoming concerts. Cork Youth Orchestra, under musical director TomĂĄs McCarthy, has also found a new home for its rehearsals, Ursuline Secondary School in Blackrock, Cork.
Denise Harris, Harris Group CEO said: âI am thrilled to see Cork Youth Orchestra back again and stronger than ever. There is no doubt that the last 18 months has been difficult for everyone, but it must have been exceptionally hard on young people who are passionate about playing music and showcasing their creativity.
âHarris Group has a long history of working with businesses in and around Cork City so our partnership with TomĂĄs and the Orchestra is a wonderful opportunity to give back and to invest in the Cork community. I'm really looking forward to seeing Cork Youth Orchestra back in concert very soon."
Founded in 1958, the Cork Youth Orchestra is firmly embedded in the cultural fabric of Cork and Ireland's oldest and largest youth orchestra with over 130 members, between 13-18 years of age.
TomĂĄs McCarthy, Musical Director for the Cork Youth Orchestra said: We are delighted with the continued support from Harris Group. We would have found it very difficult to rehearse safely in numbers without the donation of the Air Purifiers and the financial support really helps with our costs, which have been substantial this year.
âWe have been very fortunate to find a wonderful new home to rehearse in the Ursuline Secondary School. We have invested a significant amount to help to prepare the school hall in terms of acoustics for Orchestra rehearsals so support such as that from Harris Group is extremely welcome."
TomĂĄs added: âI would also like to acknowledge Patrick McBeth, Principal at Ursuline Secondary School for allowing us use the school's fantastic facilities; without it we really wouldn't be in a position to return safely."
